Phi Alpha Tau, 2022

Founded in 1902, Phi Alpha Tau is the nation’s oldest professional communicative arts fraternity. Originally rooted in debate, the organization has grown alongside Emerson College for more than a century to encompass all areas of the communicative arts. Phi Alpha Tau brings together members from across majors and provides an inclusive social and professional community for those who identify as male, regardless of race, background, or sexuality. The fraternity is actively involved in philanthropy and is committed to expanding the communicative arts both within Emerson and beyond, with an emphasis on brotherhood, growth, and mutual support.

During my time as an active member, I held several leadership roles that allowed me to help shape the organization creatively and structurally. I served as Webmaster, redesigning the fraternity website from the ground up, as Recruitment Chair, organizing events focused on connection and community building, and as Marketing Chair, where I led the organization’s post-pandemic reintroduction. In that role, I developed and executed a full marketing campaign, designing graphics for social media and print, directing and producing recruitment videos, and producing photoshoots featuring members of the brotherhood. The 2022 Phi Alpha Tau marketing campaign was nominated for an EVVY Award for Outstanding Marketing Campaign.

The photographs below are part of that broader effort, capturing the individuality and collective spirit of Phi Alpha Tau through portraiture.
